Brandon Crisp funeral tomorrow
By: Janis Ramsay, Metroland Staff

Brandon Crisp’s story has touched many lives, now his parents hope his legacy will help children for years to come.

His parents, Steve and Angelika, are creating the Brandon Crisp Foundation of Hope, which will help children play minor sports.

“We’re going to work in conjunction with the Canadian Tire JumpStart program,” Mr. Crisp said. “It’s to help support underprivileged kids across Canada in communities to play minor sports.”

The JumpStart program, launched by the Canadian Tire Foundation For Families in 2005, helps cover costs such as registration, transportation and equipment.

There are more than 130,000 children in Canada who have been given a hand from the program.

Starting Monday, Brandon Crisp donation boxes will be available in Canadian Tire stores nationwide for people to make a contribution.

“The money will go in the trust fund to start off, for the next two weeks. They’re doing it as a promotion to get things going,” Mr. Crisp said.

Once established, the Brandon Crisp Foundation of Hope will hold annual fundraisers, such as golf tournaments or hockey camps in Brandon’s name, he added.

Brandon’s funeral is tomorrow.

Visitation takes place in the chapel at Steckley-Gooderham funeral home on Worsley Street today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The funeral mass is Friday at 10 a.m.
