Viva, YRT make schedule changes effective Sunday

York Region Transit and Viva want to remind you of some changes starting Sunday.

Viva Blue has made some minor schedule adjustments to accommodate the new northbound and southbound Jefferson Viva stations.

On Viva Pink, the last northbound morning trip from Finch GO Bus Terminal now leaves at 9:40 a.m. instead of 9:32 a.m.

Here is a quick glance at York Region Transit changes:

Route 2A – 14th Avenue

• The first two eastbound morning trips will be adjusted to reflect actual travel times.

• Minor afternoon rush hour schedule adjustments will be made to address congestion at Markham District High School. The 3 p.m. trip from the school will now depart at 3:05 p.m. A new afternoon trip will depart from Markham District at 3:10 p.m.

Route 3 – Thornhill to York University

• To address overcrowding and accommodate increasing demand at Thornlea Secondary School, the following weekday trips will be added:

• A new westbound trip will depart from Don Mills Road and Steeles Avenue at 8:10 a.m., arriving at Thornlea Secondary School at about 8:26 a.m. and ending at York University.

• A new eastbound trip will depart from Bayview Avenue and John Street at 3:02 p.m., arriving at Thornlea Secondary School at approximately 3:05 p.m. and ending at Don Mills Rd. & Steeles Ave.

Route 4/4A – Major Mackenzie

• Minor rush hour schedule adjustments will be made to reflect actual travel times.

• Route 4 seasonal service into Canada’s Wonderland will be discontinued.

• Route 4A will extend to Church Street and 9th Line during weekday rush hour periods.

Route 8 – Kennedy Road

• Minor afternoon rush hour schedule adjustments will be made for GO Train connections at Unionville GO Station.

Route 13 – Islington

• To accommodate the afternoon bell at Emily Carr Secondary School, the weekday northbound trip from Rutherford Road at 3 p.m. will now depart at 2:53 p.m.

Route 18 – Bur Oak

•Minor afternoon rush hour schedule adjustments will be made for GO Train connections at Mount Joy GO Station.

• The limited service route will be extended to Cornell Rouge Boulevard to accommodate Bur Oak Secondary School students.

Route 20 – Jane-Concord

• Seasonal service into Canada’s Wonderland will be discontinued.
• Minor schedule adjustments will be made.

Route 23 – Thornhill Woods

• Weekday rush hour service will be extended north of Rutherford Road to accommodate customers in the Upper Thornhill Village community.

Route 40 – Unionville Local

• Minor afternoon rush hour schedule adjustments will be made for GO Train connections at Centennial GO Station.

Route 41 – Markham Local

• Minor afternoon rush hour schedule adjustments will be made for GO Train connections at Centennial GO Station.
