Some of the world’s biggest names in the automotive industry are hailing the first-ever Auto FutureTech Summit, to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia from March 12-14, 2008, as the key step to creating solutions for the incredible environmental and sustainability challenges faced within their industry.

“The search for greener cars is a critical global issue,” says Feng An, Executive Director for the Innovation Center for Energy and Transportation and a confirmed speaker at the upcoming automotive event. “Addressing the world’s environmental challenges with respect to transportation requires bringing players from the US, Europe, Latin America, and Asia all to the same table. As a global conference, Auto FutureTech is exactly the summit we need to move forward.”

The first event of its kind, the summit will welcome major automakers General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, as well as some of the most elite names in the auto supplier industry, such as Delphi Corporation, Continental Automotive, and Johnson Controls-Saft Advanced Power Solutions, to discuss and debate the future goals and direction of their industry.

“Having the opportunity to get some of the key decision makers together in one place at the same time is truly exceptional,” says Mary Ann Wright, President and CEO for Johnson Controls. “Auto FutureTech will bring together the industry’s leading technical and business experts who are all driving to deliver sustainable, affordable, and custom-desired products.”

Held in conjunction with GLOBE 2008 (www.globe2008.ca), North America’s premier event on the business of the environment, Auto FutureTech is the first time the automotive industry will come together to discuss the massive shift taking place in its sector, as both industry leaders and consumers look for solutions in combating environmental and sustainability issues.

“Twenty years from now, the auto industry will be completely transformed,” says Malcom Bricklin, Founder and CEO for Visionary Vehicles, a confirmed speaker at the 2008 Auto FutureTech Summit. “This transformation will occur because of collaborative efforts towards common goals like a healthy environment and elimination of dependence on foreign oil. I expect Auto FutureTech to be a summit of those leading the way to an extraordinary future.”
