Aurora has a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs and business owners.

In a partnership with the provincial and federal governments, the town has launched BizPal, an innovative project cutting through the red tape of tracking down licences and permits needed to begin or expand businesses.

The online service asks business owners to answer a few questions about their operation and automatically generates a list of licences and permits required by federal, provincial and municipal governments accompanied by further information about each licence or permit.

The new program is designed to increase access and be more efficient for busy professionals preventing them from having to run from department to department, wait in line and take time away from their business to get to government offices during business hours.

To date, 10 provinces and territories are participating in BizPal. Aurora joins more than 60 participating municipalities.

King, Newmarket and Stouffville are three nearby communities that have started using the BizPal system.
