Top-rated Newmarket southpaw gets Classic prospects test

Lefthanded pitcher Jake Eliopoulos of Newmarket is the lone Canadian scheduled to participate in the UnderArmour All-America Classic for 2009 draft eligible prospects  today at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

The six-foot, three-inch Eliopoulos, who plays with the Brantford Red Sox of the Intercounty Baseball League, is projected as the top Canadian in next year’s Major League Baseball draft. He is a student at Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newmarket.
