The Markham Majors might have finished in seventh place in the 10-team Oshawa City and District Fastball League regular season standings, but the Majors are proving the playoffs are a different story.

Facing second-place Aurora Shoeless Joe’s in the first game of their best-of-three quarter-final series Tuesday in Aurora, the Majors prevailed 5-1.

Darren Crawford ignited the offence by collecting three hits, including a home run, and driving in two runs.
Jon Halbert contributed two hits and scored two runs while Faisal Hassan and Pete Dzilums each had two hits and one RBI.

Winning pitcher Jeff Wilson, who struck out 11 batters, helped his own cause at the plate by stroking out two hits and scoring one run.

Cam Western also had two hits while Brent Gram had one hit and one RBI and Paul Webb one hit.

The Majors can wrap up the series Monday when they host the second game at the Centennial North diamond at 8:30 p.m.
