A Richmond Hill woman is in hospital with serious injuries following an early morning crash in Markham.

At about 6:44 a.m., a tractor trailer operated by a 57-year-old man was stopped at Riviera Drive in the Dennison and Woodbine avenues area of Markham.

As he turned north onto Woodbine, the 31-year-old began to cross Woodbine and was run over by the rear wheels of the tractor trailer.

The woman was transported to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries.
 
The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed.
