James Castle was part of a Cedar Brae Golf and Country Club team that finished fourth in the Golf Association of Ontario’s George S. Lyon Championship at RattleSnake Point Golf Club near Milton Tuesday.

The Stouffville native joined forces with Richard Ross of Markham, Tom Hodgins of Newmarket and Dan Kavanagh of Scarborough to finish eight-over par at 296 (70-77-77-72). Castle shot an even-par 72.

The foursome finished five shots behind the winning team from the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Fifty-five teams took part in the one-day event.

The event was first played in 1931 and ran consecutively until 2000. Originally an inter-club championship, the event was reinstated in 2006 and is named after 1904 Olympic Golf gold medallist.
