The City of Vaughan has a pretty good idea to help reduce the time it takes to dispute a parking ticket.
Starting this fall, you will no longer have to travel to a Richmond Hill or Newmarket courthouse to argue over a ticket. Instead, any dispute can be heard at Vaughan city hall.
With the price of gas these days, that in itself will help save people a heck of a lot more than time.
As it stands now, the city is only allotted two days a month to have any parking ticket matters heard in provincial court. When you consider that it issues about 40,000 parking tickets a year, it is easy to see why there is a logjam at our courts.
Kudos to the city for its fresh thinking. Let’s hope it dedicates a sufficient number of days each month to hear disputes so that residents can truly take advantage of the convenience this excellent service provides.
