In the spirit of empowering youth, the Junior League of Toronto in York Region is sponsoring the Tiaras and Ties program celebrating the achievements of high school students who have overcome adversity and reached the milestone of graduation.
The Junior League of Toronto’s Tiaras and Ties program provides graduating high school students in financial need, with formal attire so they can attend their school prom with pride.
Students are selected through confidential referrals from school guidance counsellors and social services in the area of Newmarket and Georgina.
Participating students are invited to attend the May 4 Boutique Day at the Howard Johnson Hotel Aurora.
Assisted by a personal shopper, they select a gown or suit of their choice and accessories to match.
This special day includes a makeup and hair consultation, refreshments, and gift bags.
Since 1926, the Junior League of Toronto has contributed millions of volunteer hours and more than $4 million to the community.
They are a women’s organization committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
As a charitable organization, the Junior League of Toronto relies on product and service support from sponsors for the program.
Donations in the form of gently used or new clothing, shoes, purses, accessories, toiletries, cosmetics, gift certificates for hairstyling and manicures and services for the Boutique Day such as hairstyling and makeup consultation would be welcomed.
