GEORGINA: THE EASTERN TOUR |
The eastern half of Georgina is often overlooked in favour of the
attractions around Jackson’s Point and Sutton, but there’s plenty to
see and do here.
Begin the tour with some fun in the sun….

Willow Beach Conservation Area |
There are many places to swim in Georgina, but few compare to Willow
Beach Conservation Area. It features more than 500 metres of sandy
beach and gently sloping shorelines, as well as large open grass areas
for picnicking and mature trees for shade. Facilities include
change-rooms, washrooms, picnic tables and playgrounds. Incidentally,
the cottages nearby occupy some of the oldest farmsteads in Georgina.
Location: 4km west of Jackson’s Point on Metro Road

Georgina Pioneer Village |
Step back in time to the late 19th century at the Georgina Pioneer
Village, a living history museum that preserves the rich architectural
heritage of the region. Wander through more than a dozen
buildings….purchase a ticket at the circa 1920 Sutton railway
station….browse through the wares at pioneer general store….and watch
horseshoes being made over a blazing forge. Special events occur
throughout the year, including militia musters in the summer, an autumn
fair, and an old-fashioned pioneer Christmas in December.

Christ Church Roche’s Point |
At one time, Roche’s Point was far larger than neighbouring Keswick and
was destined to be the capital of Ontario. Fate is fickle, sometimes,
and today this small community is best known for its gorgeous chapel.
Christ Church is widely held to be the most beautiful English-style
fieldstone church in Ontario. Few who see this 1862 church up close
would argue that assertion, or that it seems to radiate sanctity.
Location: 12 Turner Street
….and then wrap-up the day in Keswick, with some dinner and perhaps a show…
