All the world’s a stage at the Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts in Keswick. The 295 seat facility was named after the prolific author who penned more than 35 books about small town Ontario as well as numerous theatrical works.

Mr. Leacock, born in England, emigrated with his family to Canada when he was 7 years old and grew up in the hamlet of Egypt near Sibbald Point. Mr. Leacock, who passed away in 1944, had a profound effect on Canadian jocularity and stage comedy.

Since it was established in 1985, the facility has offered the best in live arts and entertainment in an intimate setting.

Home to both the South Shore Little Theatre and the Queensville Players, it is a cornerstone in the local cultural scene.

Stage productions include musicals, children’s acts, mystery dinner theatre and comedies. Also captivating audiences are renowned singers and music groups.

In the summer, the theatre hosts camps for budding thespians with instruction in such disciplines as mime, improv, vocal, dance, voice projection, stage presence and more.

Whether you want to sing along, have a good laugh or figure out “who done it?”, the Stephen Leacock Theatre, located at 130 Gwendolyn Blvd. in Keswick, is the place to be.
