The Flipside Skateboard Park is designed for drop in use by skateboarders, in-line skaters, BMX bikers and scooters. It is a great place for youth to cultivate their skills and hang out with friends.
It's a unique concept -- it is a mobile venue, not permanent. Flipside is a fully contained system within an enclosed trailer that moves to various facilities, setting up in about 20 minutes.
All that is needed is a paved surface the size of a basketball court. Two current sites for Flipside are the Aurora Community Centre and Aurora Leisure Complex parking lots.
Ramps are made of wood, plastic and steel and feature a Flatbank, Flybox, Quarterpipe, Grindbox, 2 Grindrails and an incline ramp.
Pre-registered instructional skateboard and BMX clinics are held monthly, teaching terminolgy, maintenance, safety, stopping, turning and tricks. Competitions are also held throughout the year.
Flipside is a wonderful addition for any event with a youth component such as Canada Day celebrations, Concerts in the Park, festivals and more. It can now also be booked for birthday parties.
The park is always supervised by two trained staff. There is a fully stocked canteen on site. Helmets are mandatory.
In summer, the park is open Monday - Friday 12 - 5 pm and in spring and fall, Saturday and Sunday from noon - 4 pm and Tuesday and Thursday 4 - 8 pm.
Flipside Skateboard Park provides an amazing opportunity for community youth to stay active and have a good time.
