For half a century audiences have been enchanted by Theatre Aurora performances.
Back in 1958, a group known as The Aurora Drama Workshop, put on the play “Tovarich” at Aurora District School Board. This troupe continued entertaining for another 15 years until amalgamated with Aurora Musical in 1973 to become Theatre Aurora.
The next year they moved into a vacant cement factory transforming it into the beautiful Factory Theatre where they remain to this day. Since then many improvements have been made including a new foyer, air conditioning and raised seating.
Seeing a need to provide an opportunity for young people to cultivate their acting skills, Theatre Aurora started a Youth Group in 1988 for ages 7 - 17.
Another change came in 2005, when Theatre Aurora took on an another exciting endeavour by adding a summer show to kick off each season.
The 154 seat Factory Theatre has set the stage for many productions over the years such as The Sound of Music, Annie, Guys and Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors, South Pacific and Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
After 50 seasons, it is a safe bet that Theatre Aurora will continue to mesmerize showgoers for many more years to come.
The Factory Theatre is located at 150 Henderson Drive, Aurora. Call 905-727-3669 for more information or to order tickets or visit
